They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Thank goodness because my ability to write down my thoughts and ideas is never all that great. So here are a few examples of photos taken with and without off camera flash.
First is the cake. Now we’ve all seen beautifully crafted wedding cakes, most often shoved in a corner somewhere and all we can do is stand back and take a snapshot. I don’t know about you but one of my wedding day nightmares involves me, a camera and a cake somehow getting smashed. Trust me, I’m going to be extremely careful.

Some may prefer the flatter lighting. I personally like the more dramatic lighting I can achieve with my flash positioned off camera. But that’s a personal preference. Just remember to not exceed flash sync speed as I did on the first dress shot (see dark band on right side of image). It’s an easy thing to overlook.
