A Greensboro Wedding ~ Melanie & David

Melanie and David were married July 3rd at Christ United Methodist Church followed by a reception at Starmount Country Club.

I arrived early afternoon to get a few detail shots and some posed group shots. David’s gift to his groomsmen were official NFL jerseys ( team and player of their choice). What a fun group as they decided to take a few “formals” while playing football.
Melanie looked absolutely stunning in her gown as she was escorted down the aisle by a very proud dad. I wish I had the writing skills to describe what an elegant and classic vision she is.

With that in mind, I felt compelled to process David and Melanie’s post in a vintage tone. I just thought it suited the feel of the day.

Congratulations the two of you. I want to thank you and your families for allowing me to be a part of your day.

PS Post on “Doctor Dave” coming soon. Hope to reflect his personality. Sometimes the groom gets to get airtime ya know?

Engagement Session – Cliff ♡s Meredith

Cliff and Meredith met me yesterday for there engagement session photos. I first met Cliff and Meredith a few months ago when they came over to my place to discuss their June 19th wedding. I think we ended up chatting for almost 2 hours and I was thrilled when they later called asking me to photograph their celebration. Since “friending” Meredith on Facebook, I have been constantly amazed at her crazy busy schedule. I admire her being able to keep so many balls up in the air all while trying to plan a big wedding. She loves Bon Jovi, and I think he prefers Rascal Flatts. And none of us can sing a lick.
Meredith’s quote in emails: “Children are great imitators. So give them something great to imitate!”

Laura and Andrew – Engagement Session in Fisher Park

Some couples are just plain FUN and that is certainly the case with Laura and Andrew. From climbing trees, eating azalea, running from bumble bees, playing leap frog, this session had it all. We decided to meet down by Fisher Park to take advantage of the Spring blooms. Thanks guys for being such fun. I can’t wait to shoot your wedding on June 26th.

Gary and Ramandeep – ESession

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph Gary and Ramandeep’s engagement session this Fall in High Point. I was immediately drawn to both of their eyes. Simply stunning. We met at Oak Hollow golf course late afternoon and as I was taking their photos I knew we were capturing some special images. I couldn’t wait to get home to look at them on my computer. I wish you two the very best of luck with your wedding next year in Atlanta GA.

Maegan and Jeffery – Engagement Session

I met with Maegan and Jeff over in Raleigh a couple of weeks ago to shoot their engagement session. We started on the campus on North Carolina State University and then headed downtown for a different backdrop. It was a beautiful Fall day and the weather was perfect for photography. I’m so looking forward to their wedding next year. They are so sweet and fun to photograph. Here are a few of my favorite images from the day:

Heather + Darin Enagement Session

On my way to Charlotte this Sunday with mapquest directions at my side, I got lost while trying to arrive on time for Heather and Darin’s E-Session. In a panic I called Heather only to hear Darin’s voice on the other end. I always plan my shoots so that I arrive at least 30 minutes before the appointed time ( just some anal engineering holdover). I honestly thought I was going to have to pull over to the side of the road and “waste” 20 minutes but now I’m finding myself in the situation of potentially being 15 minutes late. I plug in my GPS and find I’m 17 miles away. EEK! Okay, so back to Darin…. He answers the phone and quickly relieves me of my quickly growing panic over being late. Hey Heather, you have a winner here. Darin is a great guy! I can’t wait to photograph your wedding in October.

Hallie and Austin E-Session, UNC Chapel Hill

I met Hallie and Austin over in Chapel Hill to photograph their engagement session last week. It was a beautiful spring day in North Carolina. They were so much fun to work with and Austin had us all laughing with his antics. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding this August. Here are some of my favorite shots from the day:

Even though Adam and Amanda aren’t getting married until next year, we decided to take advantage of the awesome Fall foliage and meet for their engagement session. What a sweet couple you guys are. I can’t wait for your wedding, it’s going to be so much fun photographing a couple so obviously meant for each other. Here is just a tiny sample of some of the images we captured:

TIPS FOR YOUR “HOT” ENGAGEMENT SESSION

Engagement Session

Think of the engagement session more as a hot date than a photography session. It’s less about smiling at the camera and more about having fun. Smiling it still a good thing, in fact so is laughing, flirting and joking.
You can pack a picnic basket, kayak in the lake, take a stroll through the park, race go-carts but just be yourselves. The options are only limited by your imagination.
Choose a location with a special meaning to the both of you.
Bring along several outfits of comfortable clothes that you love. Dark jeans or dark dress pants work best for the guys. Dark jeans or a dress work for the ladies.
Most engagement sessions last around 2 hours so bring along something to drink and if it’s a hot day, bring touch up makeup, a brush or comb.
Listen to your favorite music on the way to your location and get yourselves pumped up.
Consider at “Trash the E-Session” by jumping into the pool, ocean, pond or whatever.
Schedule a surprise Engagement Session and pop the question all while having the paparazzi (me) follow you around and capture the look on her face.
Drink lots of water the days before the session to look your best on the day of the shoot, ah I mean day of your date.
Best of all just be yourselves, the photos will look beautiful and imagine how much fun it’s going to be to look back on this day years later.
